Adventurer, photographer, writer, musician, and winter-lover Kristian Jackson greets a glorious morning on his skis along the Wilburn Ridge near Mount Rogers, VA. Kristian and I camped out on this ridge the night before and felt asleep to the sound of howling coyotes and howling wind. Surely the crux of the day was crawling out of our sleeping bags at 5:15am in pitch blackness and sub-zero temps. It was so cold that our gas stove wouldn't even heat our water for breakfast. No complaints here, though. The views were far to spectacular to worry about things like food and warmth.
